An immersive fantasy lyric video created for a Desiigner x A Boogie collaborative single, blending stylized 3D artist recreations, Unreal Engine environments, and animated typography into a visually surreal music experience delivered on an accelerated release timeline.
The Brief
Riv Music approached Makin’ Magic with an urgent challenge: create a visually striking lyric video for a new Desiigner x A Boogie release with almost no creative brief and an extremely compressed timeline before launch. The only direction was to make it feel “outside the box” while visually matching the psychedelic tone and color palette of the single artwork. Because the video would ultimately need artist approval, authenticity in likeness and overall creative quality became a key priority.
Our Approach
We developed a fully stylized fantasy world using Unreal Engine, combining surreal mushroom-inspired environments with custom 3D artist recreations and cinematic camera work. Using MetaHuman and Character Creator workflows, we iterated rapidly on facial structure, hairstyles, accessories, and proportions to better match both artists while balancing realism with stylization. Instead of relying on static lyric placement, we designed animated typography that interacted with the environment itself — placing lyrics around, behind, and within scenes to create a more immersive viewing experience. Throughout production, we continuously refined shots based on client feedback, replacing weaker character movements with floating and atmospheric moments that better matched the energy of the track.

Creative Discovery & Visual Direction
With minimal creative direction provided, we quickly explored visual concepts inspired by the single artwork, identifying a surreal fantasy aesthetic that could feel cinematic, psychedelic, and artist-driven. Environment concepts, color palettes, and overall visual language were developed to align with the energy of the record.
023D Artist Development
Using MetaHuman and Character Creator workflows, we created stylized 3D versions of Desiigner and A Boogie. Multiple iterations were made to facial structure, proportions, hair, and accessories to improve likeness while maintaining a visually cohesive artistic style.
03Environment Design & World Building
A custom fantasy-inspired environment was developed in Unreal Engine, featuring oversized glowing mushrooms, atmospheric lighting, and immersive landscapes that reflected the mood of the song and cover art.

Cinematic Shot Planning & Animation
We designed a sequence of cinematic camera shots and character moments to create a visually engaging narrative flow. Based on client feedback, scenes were refined to prioritize floating, atmospheric movements and stronger visual compositions over traditional walk cycles.
05Lyric Integration & Motion Design
Lyrics were animated and composited into the world using motion graphics, rotoscoping and spatial placement techniques, allowing typography to interact with the environment rather than functioning as a traditional lyric overlay.

Review, Refinement & Final Delivery
Following multiple rounds of feedback, shots, pacing, character balance, and typography timing were refined to elevate the final piece before delivery for artist approval and release.
Results
Despite an aggressive turnaround window and evolving creative feedback, the final lyric video successfully transformed a minimal brief into a fully realized visual world tailored to the song’s aesthetic. By combining 3D character design, immersive environments, motion graphics, and rapid creative iteration, Makin’ Magic delivered a premium visual asset that elevated the single release while maintaining flexibility for artist review and approval. The project highlighted our ability to move quickly, solve creative challenges in real time, and produce high-concept visuals under deadline pressure.
